Abandoned In The Storm

Fine art prints & posters available of this photograph

It has been a very fun, thrilling, exciting and downright crazy last couple of weeks of intense storm chasing on the eastern plains of Colorado. I have some shots that you all are not even going to believe! The eastern plains are home to some of the most powerful, violent and largest tornadoes on the planet. This was photographed outside of Otis, Colorado, located in Washington county……a typical plains town of maybe a couple hundred people, tops. Abandoned farms dart the countryside and we were on a tornado vortex warned storm that had just passed by us when I shot this. Tornadic thunderstorms and backlit skies, what else could you ask for!? The crazy thing is, it actually wasn’t a sunset but the sunlight in the west reflecting against the gigantic storms at the time. Chasing on the Colorado plains, there is NOTHING else like it, and they say that it is the place place in the world to chase, now I understand why.
